• Being a parent is a tough job. Teaching, loving, and sharing. Don’t forget the cleaning, organizing, and cooking! Our workday seems to never end, or does it?

Keeping sane while being a mom takes some effort. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not always successful and known to have moments of insanity. I try my best to end my day one hour after the kids are in bed. At that point I stop whatever it is I’m doing, and save it for the next day. This way I can spend some quality time with Big Daddy catching up on our television shows, or play a game together. Heck, sometimes I let Big Daddy play video games while I go take a bath. It’s important for me to have this time to relax, unwind, and digest the day. Big Daddy and I always talk about the day and what we would like to do differently, or do the same, if the opportunities arise. It’s a great time for us to laugh over all the goofy things our kids (and dog) do throughout the day. It’s nearly like a date. Wow. But even this isn’t enough sometimes.

It’s important for me to have this time to relax, unwind, and digest the day.

At least once a month I need to get out of the house with other moms, and pretend that I’m not a mom for just a moment! It’s fun getting all dressed up and going out together. Most of us are budget conscious so we don’t do anything expensive. In fact most of the time we find places with deals on appetizers or two-for-one drinks and share the cost. The point is really that we all get out and enjoy each other’s company.

And the only rule is that we never, ever, talk about the kids. Helps to keep it real.
