• Three kids, two bed rooms.

It doesn’t really sound like a huge dilemma, but it is turning into one. We are about to have two boys and a girl. Our daughter is the oldest, followed by her brothers.

I’m all ready for the boys to share a room, but I have some concerns for about the first year of our newest addition’s life. Our youngest son will be born late July of this year. Our middle son will be two in August. This sounds so ideal. Only two years apart, they will be buddies and get into such mischief together. I almost can’t wait.

My current solution is to put our almost two year old son in with his four year old sister.

But I worry about eventually putting a baby into the same room as a toddler. How will I handle night time feedings? Will the baby wake up his brother? Probably. My current solution is to put our almost two year old son in with his four year old sister. At this point in their lives, they adore each other, and rarely fight. Both of them sleep soundly through the night. They wake up and go to sleep at pretty much the same times as well.

This is my answer until our youngest boy can make his way through the entire night habitually. Sure it would be amazing if I just had that extra bedroom lying around, but I do not, and I don’t have plans to move any time soon. Maybe eventually, but not soon.

I have heard many reactions to this solution of mine. Some people think it will be fine, while others are freaking out about two genders in one room. But come on, they are four and two? What is the big deal? I’m just trying to make due with what we have, like the rest of us.
