• baby monitors sony baby callDo you really need a baby monitor? It depends, how good is your hearing? How loud does your baby cry? How big is your house, and how far away is your child’s room? My kid’s rooms are upstairs while mine is downstairs. If they were to really wail, I would be able to hear them without a monitor, but I enjoy the ability to hear all the more quiet noises. The singing, snoring, or random gurgles, are good indicators of what time they are waking up, or falling asleep.

I know how obsessive I can be and assumed that I would just sit there for hours watching my baby sleep

So, what kind of monitor do you really need? I know lots of parents who swear by their video monitors. They love the ability to actually see what their kids are doing at any given time. For me, I opted to forgo that. I know how obsessive I can be and assumed that I would just sit there for hours watching my baby sleep. It wouldn’t be healthy for me!

So we went with a traditional monitor. Actually, I consider this monitor to be a step up from the norm. It is the Sony Baby Call monitor. It is rechargeable, so you don’t have to worry about batteries and you can wander away from the plug if you need to. We have had ours unplugged and on for about two days before it finally died on us.

The reason it lasts so long is that you can switch it onto voice activation. Honestly, this is the best invention ever. I am not a lover of white noise, so the fact that this monitor is silent so long as your kids are silent really made my day. There is the faintest of clicks when it turns on when your child makes a noise. Absolutely the best monitor out there for my family!
