• Tis’ the season for the back-to-school fun to start with kids scratching their heads and parents frantically worrying if their children brought home lice to share with the whole family. Even if you don’t actually have lice, just talking about it generally triggers compulsive itching and endless worries. Hopefully, you’re lucky and it’s just dandruff. None the less, below are some tips to prevent the outbreak of lice and at the very least help you make their habitat a lot less appealing, so they look somewhere else to nest.

1.) Use a fine-toothed lice or generic spiral-toothed comb to comb it weekly through wet hair. You will notice the lice or their eggs (which are beige/brown in color).

2.) Make sure your kids keep their hair tied back and know to never share hats, brushes, combs, helmets, barrettes, pillows or anything that goes in or on the hair.

3.) Use natural peppermint or tea-tree oil in your child’s shampo and leave-in-conditioner because lice avoid the smell!
