Dragon Soup

I have some seriously picky eaters. I’m not just talking about my kids either. Even Big Daddy has some particular preferences when it comes to food. So I am constantly on the look out for good, healthy meals that my entire family will eat. It is always a hit or miss when I try my hand at new recipes. Being November, it is finally cold her in our little corner of the world, so I decided to try making a kid friendly stew. I’m smart enough to know that Lady Bug won’t eat anything that doesn’t sound good to her. In order to avoid this discussion:
Mommy, “Hey look, yummy stew!”
Ladybug, “Stew? Yuck!”
Mommy, “But you haven’t tried it! Take a bite, it’s yummy!”
Ladybug, “I don’t like stew”
Mommy, “If you take some bites I’ll give you a cookie.”
Ladybug, “I don’t even want a cookie.”
Mommy, “Eat. It. Or. Else.”Well, you get the idea. So, in order to avoid the above scenario, I lovingly called this hearty soup, “Dragon Soup.” Somehow that’s not so offensive to her. What I love about this recipe is that it has lots of veggies, and you throw it all in the crock pot and leave it alone until dinner time. Plus, all of my picky eaters gobbled it up.
Dragon Soup- 1lb stew meat cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 Onion cut into eighths
- 1 fresh tomato chopped
- 8oz baby carrots
- 10.5oz beef broth
- 15oz tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 heavy pinch Kosher salt
- 1 pinch sugar
- pepper to taste
- 1lb potatoes
Put all ingredients into your slow cooker put it on low for eight hours, or high for 4-6. Just until the veggies are tender.
