• My four year old daughter, who is nothing if not fantastic decided she wanted to give me a spa day for my birthday. Her rationalization was that all mommies needed a day to feel good. I couldn’t disagree with that at all, but I was not about to drop the cash on going to an actual salon for a spa day. Especially because my daughter really wanted to be the one to do the spoiling.

Then we took warm cloths and let them sit on our faces while we discussed all the important things in life. For example, what we should do for my daughter’s birthday next month.

For our spa day we sent the boys out (I believe our guys went fishing. Again!) and we set up a serene atmosphere here at home. We picked out some classical music, lounged in our pajamas and got started. We washed our faces with full fat yogurt. Oh the delight of putting food on her face when mommy usually chases her with a wash cloth to get food off her face! Then we took warm wash cloths and let them sit on our faces while we discussed all the important things in life. For example, what we should do for my daughter’s birthday next month. After our faces soaked under the wash clothes, we wiped them down with a touch of witch hazel. Got to tone that skin after all. For a moisturizer we used a small amount of olive oil mixed with the contents of a vitamin E capsule. The oil could have been heavy but we used very little so it was fine.

If we do this again, I will probably invest in jojoba oil or something similar. I have to say that my skin felt great after we were finished with our facials. Her skin of course was perfect to start, and looked just as radiant after. I was so pleased with the results that I have used some of these homemade facial ideas in my daily routines.
